The Need for an Upgrade to H8 HID Bulbs or H8 LED Bulbs

What brought you to our website? Are you tired of the dim, yellow, diffused light your standard halogens give you? Are you looking for something that's more energy efficient? Do you want a brighter whiter light? Do you want to upgrade the tech in your vehicle? How about having a headlight bulb that lasts an impossibly long time?

HID and H8 LED bulbs offer solutions to all these issues.

The Need for A Brighter, Whiter Light

One of our customers described their standard headlights as "almost dangerous how dim they were." Most stock headlights are halogen, as they are relatively cheap to produce. But they are limited in how bright they can get. And, they run towards a yellow tint, which is more difficult for our eyes to process in dark conditions.

Do you want more clarity and visibility on the road? You've come to the right place.

A customer that purchased our HID plug and play headlight kit was “more than pleased with the light output, quality of the bulbs”. With this kit you’ll get brighter light in a variety of colors (cool pure white, whitish blue, blue and yellow).

Another customer described the light quality of his H8 headlights as "easily 10 times brighter than stock bulbs." That's not surprising. H8 LED bulbs are comprised of several LEDs (light-emitting diodes) that use advanced technology to emit protons in the form of brighter light.

The Need for Better Energy Efficiency and A Longer Lifespan

Part of the reason LED headlight bulbs and HID headlight bulbs can produce sharper, crisper, brighter light is that they don't waste as much energy as standard halogen bulbs.

The halogen bulb uses a metal filament and gas to create light. As energy increases the filament’s heat, an element evaporates and mixes with gas in the lightbulb, creating a reaction that emits light. If you can lessen the evaporation of the filament, you get a longer lifespan. If you raise the temperature, you get a brighter light. But, raising the temperature causes greater evaporation.

Energy Efficiency Matters

The amount of energy a standard halogen bulb needs to generate light is significant, and most of it is wasted in heat. Luminous efficiency is a bulb's ability to emit light relative to its power draw. Halogen light bulbs have a luminous efficiency of around 2-4%.

HID headlight bulbs offer a luminous efficiency that is roughly twice that of the halogen bulb. Their power draw spikes at start-up but once the bulb reaches temperature, the power draw evens out.

An LED's luminous efficiency can be 6-10 times as much as halogen, depending on manufacturer and design.

Longer Lifespan

The lifespan of headlight bulbs correlates to hours of operation and temperature control. Halogen lights last for roughly 1,000 operation hours.

An HID headlight bulb lasts about 2-8 times as long as halogen lights. You can expect an HID light to run between 2,000 to 8,000 hours. This would be a significant upgrade.

So, how long can an LED headlight bulb last? Almost indefinitely. Yes, that's a crazy assertion. Since we can control the temperature better with LEDs, many manufacturers promise 20,000 or more operating hours. Depending on how much you drive with your lights on, and how long you keep your vehicle, you may never need to change your headlights again.

Aftermarket HID and H8 LED Headlight Bulbs to the Rescue

When HID and LED bulbs were invented, all sorts of possibilities opened up.

However, car manufacturers prefer to keep costs down. They continue to use halogen as standard stock headlight bulbs. Customers looking for an efficient, clearer, and brighter driving experience are turning to aftermarket products.

A Word of Warning When Purchasing Headlight Replacement Bulbs

It is sometimes difficult to determine if a product will work well with your vehicle. You need to verify it will fit inside the headlight housing and that there is enough room behind it for the heat sink, if applicable.

Some products are difficult to install or don't integrate with your vehicle's CAN bus system. Find a product that is plug-and-play. We only sell products designed for easy install.

Not all HID or LED bulbs are created equal. HID and H8 headlights are more expensive to produce. Don’t fall into the trap of purchasing a product simply because it's the cheaper option. Look for quality. We provide the best quality for the price.
