880 / 881 Bulbs & LED Conversion Kits for Fog Lights, DRL & Auxiliary Lighting
The 880 / 881 bulb is a single-beam automotive fog light bulb using a PG13 plastic L-shaped base with an O-ring seal and ¼-turn locking mechanism. Originally designed as a 27W halogen bulb on approximately 12.8V systems, it produces approximately 300–700 lumens at around 3200K warm white and is commonly installed in bumper-mounted fog lights and auxiliary lamps across GM, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, and other passenger vehicles.
880 / 881 LED Performance
- Halogen Output: ~300–700 lumens
- LED Upgrade Output: 2000–6000 lumens per pair
- Halogen Color: ~3200K warm white
- LED Options: 3000K yellow / 6000K white
- Current Draw (27W): ~2.1A
- Current Draw (37.5W): ~2.9A
- LED Draw: Significantly reduced compared with halogen
LED fog lights provide faster illumination response, improved beam clarity, and reduced heat buildup inside fog housings.
This Underground Lighting collection upgrades compatible 880 halogen and 881 halogen applications to high-efficiency LED replacements and plug-and-play fog light kits using CSP LED chips and high-power 40W LED arrays. Compared with filament bulbs, these LED upgrades provide 2000–6000 lumens per pair, cooler operation, reduced current draw, and modern 6000K white or 3000K selective-yellow output.
All bulbs retain the PG13 base geometry for direct fitment in compatible OEM fog lamp housings without modification.
Products in This 880 / 881 Collection
- Output: ~2000 lumens per pair
- Color temperature: 6000K white
- LED type: CSP (Chip-Scale Package)
- Voltage: 12V automotive
- Base: PG13 (880-compatible)
- Application: Fog light / DRL
Designed for reflector-style fog housings, these CSP LEDs replicate filament positioning to help maintain proper beam dispersion while increasing brightness over stock halogen.
- Output: ~2000 lumens per pair
- Color options: 6000K white / 3000K yellow
- LED type: CSP
- Base: PG13 (881-compatible)
- Direct plug-and-play
The 3000K yellow variant is designed to improve contrast and reduce perceived glare in fog, rain, and snow conditions.
- Power rating: 40W total system
- Output: ~6000 lumens per pair
- Color temperature: 6000K white
- Plug-and-play wiring
- Integrated driver for stable voltage regulation
This high-output LED kit is designed to increase close-range visibility compared with compatible 27W halogen bulbs while maintaining OEM socket compatibility.
Both 880 and 881 bulbs use the same general PG13 connector and O-ring sealing design. However, 37.5W 881 halogen variants draw approximately 2.9A, so the factory housing and wiring should be rated for the original bulb specification.
LED replacements can reduce electrical draw to approximately 3–8W while increasing available luminous output.
Housing Compatibility & Beam Considerations
880 / 881 bulbs are primarily used in:
- Reflector fog lamp housings
- Shallow parabolic bumper-mounted lamps
- Auxiliary off-road housings
Beam performance is determined by the housing reflector geometry, not solely by the bulb. Properly aligned CSP LEDs help maintain more controlled beam focus than oversized multi-sided LED designs.
Common Compatible Vehicles, Installation & Sealing Design
880 / 881 fog light bulbs are frequently found in:
- GM trucks and SUVs
- Ford F-Series and crossovers
- Honda and Hyundai passenger cars
- Toyota sedans and SUVs
Always verify PG13 base compatibility before ordering.
The 880 / 881 installation design includes:
- ¼-turn push-lock PG13 base
- Integrated O-ring to help prevent moisture ingress
- Plug-and-play harness connection
- No metal flange with a plastic sealed base
Proper O-ring seating is critical to help prevent condensation inside fog lamp assemblies.
