Are brake lights and reverse lights the same?

Although these terms are commonly used interchangeably, brake lights and reverse lights are actually not the same. In fact, they have different functions and are different colors. Brake lights are red in color and used to indicate when a car is slowing down or stopping. Conversely, reverse lights are white in color. They are utilized to indicate when a vehicle is backing up/reversing, or preparing to do so.

How can I make my reverse lights brighter?

One way to make your car or truck’s reverse lights shine brighter is to upgrade your current bulbs to an LED model. LED reverse light bulbs shine brighter than factory-grade halogen bulbs, which tend to dull and dim over time, eventually producing a yellowed-out glow that can’t penetrate the darkness like longer-lasting LED bulbs can. If you already have LED bulbs installed and are worried about their functionality, check (or have a professional check them out) to see that they are correctly installed and performing properly.

Can you drive without reverse lights?

Driving without properly functioning reverse lights is not a smart idea—for you as well as others on the road. Although it is not against the law to operate your personal vehicle without reverse lights—as they’re deemed “optional”—failing to do so could easily result in an otherwise avoidable mishap on the road, in a parking lot, etc. Why risk it? How do you hook up a reverse light to a backup camera?

Shades of Red don't match- Tail lights don't match running lights.

I've had trouble finding the matching running light to go with my 7443 tail lights. I'm very happy with the 7443s but the neighboring light is NOT the same color. I used the web site sections, and wasn't satisfied. Then Danny recommended another brighter bulb, which was brighter, but is still not the same shade on the car. I now have a red tail light and an orange running light. I'm still not satisfied with the "orange". For this kind of money, the lights should look like they match!

For a red lens we recommend red led. White will alter the color behind the red lens.
